If you clench or grind your teeth, then you fit the classification of being a bruxer. It is typically caused by one of the following
Bite Problem, Stress, Medical Condition, Medications
On;ly about 5% of Bruxers develop symptoms that need treatment. Often a sleeping partner will notice the problem. Bruxism can result in abnormal tooth wear, sensitivity to biting, sensitivity to temperature and notching of the teeth near the gum line. It can also cause tooth loss, recession, loosening of the teeth and Jaw problems.
The dental team at Yonge and Eglinton Centre dental are trained to spot the signs of bruxism. Typically, if caught early, bruxism can be treated.
These treatments include bite adjustments, mouth guards, biofeedback devices and dental repair.
